I woke up this morning really pondering what freedom is and then I realized that it’s Monday. On my way to the beach this morning I was watching people shuffling off to work. All I was seeing was people with angry grins, hurrying to give their day away to someone else. I remember those days, (hesitatingly) what I remember was dragging my butt out of bed at 4:30 in the morning, just to hurry up and wait in traffic. I had a commute of 15 miles and it took about an hour to get there. So back to freedom, what is it? No more tie, slacks and dress shirts. What if you no longer had to worry; if you weren’t up to doing your business in the morning, and could wait until the afternoon? Yet what if you weren’t feeling good, isn’t that a dreadful call to your boss. What about your kids? Your son or daughter has a game or competition and you have to stay late at work and miss another one of their games. Are your kids worth finding freedom in your life? My day consists of sitting at the beach or park for a couple of hours, but it’s something that I choose to do and when I do it. Shorts, t-shirt, flip flops, my phone and a bottle of water on a sunny beach. That is what freedom is to me. What does your freedom look like?
